Ubi really didnt get too great a results out of it... it was fun waiting for AC2 anyway

The original game tended to crash a lot and was full of bugs.
So much, that some game mags refused to review it.
For example, if you just zoomed out of the game perspective, it would almost always crash.
You'd think nobody beta-tested this at all.

So the 1.1 is much-needed. I just doubt anyone would care by now.

Agreed. However, is it running fluently now, and does it register taps everytime now, making it playable? That would indeed be nice, I was very disappointed in what could have been the Settlers 2 for the DS.

No idea, i'm not interested in the Settlers at all.
Just ...erm... buy the game for yourself and find out. ^_~

Meh, the old version refused to save on a RETAIL card. Dont worry, its not mine

Never tried the other one, just had a go at this - seems to still be slow, not the most responsive game control wise either. Didn't notice any crashes from zooming out and in (only one level of zoom).

Man, I was a huge fan of the first 4 Settlers games on the Amiga/PC.
I beta tested Settlers 3 and 4.
The newer ones have been okay, but not that great.
And when this version was released...*sigh* too many bugs.
Hopefully v1.1 fixes everything.

I've tried 1.1 now, too. The controls and responsiveness is untouched, nigh unplayable. Bummer.

i hope they fixed the bug that makes it crash/corrupts save... i know it's a bit sluggish and doesn't look as pretty as some of the other games, but i think it's very very playable, just takes some getting used to. it's that one particular bug that made this game unplayable from that point on.
