I don't think it looks too bad, the DS has a serious lack of platformers and for a movie tie-in it could be a lot worse. Sure it looks like a GBA game, but that's not nessasarily a bad thing.

It's based on a children's book: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Where_The_Wild_Things_Are . It's quite good, I just bought it for my little five year old sister for christmas. I assume this game is a cash-in on the recently released movie, which isn't bad, either.

What kind of retarded logic is that? This game is nothing like the Imagine or Petz games. Even if you DON'T like it. It's a platformer, those others are minigame crap. This one is a somewhat decent platformer. I don't think you've even tried it if you compare it to Petz or Imagine. [IMG]

Really, I had a go with another region of this game a few months ago. I actually enjoyed it. It has a multilayered platformer approach as well. Meaning, you can jump in and out of the backgrounds in certain situations which adds some extra depth to the game. Graphically, the game has some lovely 2D backgrounds, some of the finer looking 2D i've seen in quite a while. Not a groundbreaking game, but not a bad game either.

Ironically, I think that had this game been released in the 16/32bit era and not had the curse of being a movie licensed game, it would have received some fair amount of praise and such. As it is, most people will probably pass this up as a bad movie made game. It's not bad though IMO. I realize some people will drive it into the ground without even playing it though.

And you people may not realize this, but being a GBA game with two screens does not make something a bad game. Last time I heard, the GBA was considered one of the best if not THE best handheld ever made. If something is a bad game, it's a bad game. Not because it looks like it belongs on GBA. By that logic, Henry Hatsworth was a terrible game. And so was Giana Sisters DS.

This game is actually good, guys. Calm the generic "LOL SHOVELWARE" responses you use in every thread.

Yeah, I played a bit of the European version. It was alright, but nothing to grab my interest. Not something to throw away at a glance, but not something you need to play either.

I hereby formally adopt every poor soul that's never read this awesome book. You'll have to behave though or I'll send you to your room.

This game is on my list of to-gets, even if it's only a little like the book, and they only put a half decent amount of effort into the game, that's good enough for me.
I'm sure my kids will like it.
