This game wants so badly to be Crash Bandicoot but ends up looking more like the failed Socks the Cat game.

The 3D rendered sprites would have been a big plus in this game. Spongebob and his house look amazing and full of life in them. Unfortunately, they didn't rendered everything, so you have regular pixel sprites on top of the great artwork. And for some reason, those sprites have incredibly thick black outlines to them and generally just look horrible.

Controls are inane and unresponsive. They give you the choice of using the stylus or the d-pad, as if anyone would use the stylus. Literally, the choice you have is "Draw a circle the game won't recognize the first 4 or 5 times to do a spin attack" or "press X." But then the game adds mandatory stylus points that are just as unresponsive as the combat drawing is.

Everything else is generic and safe. You collect "Happy Tokens" just because you are supposed to collect stuff in these games. You do the same 3 or 4 melee attacks every platform character ever did. You walk from left to right with the ability to go up and down a little to make it seem 3D.

All in all, avoid at all costs.
