Though it's certainly fun to blow up walls, chop down trees and bushes in search of Rupees and harass big bunches of birds with your sword, there's also something inherently satisfying about taking the opposite approach to destruction and, instead, work to bring an ecosystem back to life. Petz Rescue: Endangered Paradise does just that, capitalizing on the surprising appeal of being green to craft an engaging, immersive and addicting experience. This is another unexpected hit for Ubisoft's Petz brand, which has grown to the point where it's become difficult to single out individual games -- but Endangered Paradise shouldn't be missed.
Its cel-shaded visuals and control style draw on the strength of the standard set by Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, making it instantly accessible. And while its mini-games get a little too repetitive and there's quite a bit of backtracking included, gamers who get started restoring the balance of nature on Atlas Island won't want to stop until the job is done. An impressive, unexpectedly fun game. Check it out.
