Hooooly shit it's out!
I really recommend this game and the first one, It's been one of the best games I've played for the DS.
is it got a language selector? is it playable on R4? is it will be another kind of protection? I not trusting Square Enix anymore!
Didn't a Chocobo game just come out recently? Man, this bird is getting some lovin'.
I do like that icon though. Nicely drawn.
Man, that was fast!
does this game have language selection like chrono trigger or is it strictly japanese?
it's finally out
this gonna be like the previous one with lotsa mini-games and card battles ?
I loved the mini-game and card battle one!
The dungeon one, not so much...
More than likely Wifi mini games... Seeing how popular the first one was!
Cheers for an other good release.
Here's a rough translation of the title: "The Chocobo, the Picture Book Witch, the Maiden and the Five Valiants"
look into the ROM
all text is encoded in unicode UTF 16 LE. (codepage 1200)
uses 2 NFTR fonts, one for the story (lz ompressed, but it seems to use the flag 11 compression again) and another one that is not compressed.
There were few text files, but very small.
Also, more text found in mgentry/text and lgame/txtwnd
There were 2 files ja/wifitext.bin and jc/wifitext.bin that were both encoded in unicode UTF 8.
So basically, because it uses an NFTR font and easily editable text, (even though the texts are scattered), it doesn't seem to hard. The font (font.NFTR)'s size is 10x10, and has single byte characters. The english character's widths are already fine, so no need for a VWF unless you really want a font change.
But I'm not able to view the other font, because of the flag 11 compression.
But graphics will get annoying- all the graphics (NCGR/etc) are all compressed with lz77.
Luckily, the card related stuff are flag 10 as I thought.
The arm9.bin was compressed, but no text in it.
So what I THINK is that the text files are not compressed, and can be edited easily. Card graphics are editable, but I don't know how to decompress the files with the flag 11, so I don't have anything to say about that.
Wonder if S-E gonna bother with more Copy Protections, considering almost all of them are broken (with cheats, patches) in a few days or less.
Anyway, what could we expect? ... freezes/loops at some game points or random thanks for playing screens? xD
more like 'chocobo and the magic picture book: the witch, the girl, and the 5 heroes.'
Thanks for fixing the translation, it makes more sense now.
Wow, for me it's the opposite.
Mini-game one was boring as HECK.
I still have nightmares getting gold from the jar mini game from the 1st one. It literally took me hours.
But I still loved every minute of it
the save file remains at 00:00 no matter how long I play on my supercard rumble (latest firmware and software). anyone know how to fix it? thanks!
