It is a remake of an old 1959 movie (Original) loved the original as a kid, link to new movie is http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0373051/. Both are supposedly based on a Jules Verne novel.

there have been quite a few tv spots stateside for this -- though i never know if the ad is for Mummy 3 or JttCotE, since both involve Brendon Fraser (Oh Canada!)

Well, I remember watching the original, which was fantastic. But i had no idea they were doing a remake.
