Plays like a pet sim in the 5 min that I tried it out. Not eng friendly though

Sounds really strange. After all "breeding" is the last thing I would associate with this franchise. But that said a lot of strange stuff has already been done so far ( like digimon go-kart? what the f***? )

Well, in the very first Digimon World you had to breed your own monsters, then raise them in a Tamagotchi-like style, then use them to battle against other Digimons. Guess it's something like that here...

It is just like first PSX game. This one is faaaaaaaaar better than that, though. Finally Digimon game that even I could play!

Digimons basic lies in breeding back when it came out as a pendelum game

Yeah, it's definitely oriented on the first games. Got used to the more recently released games which are RPG oriented and not tamagotchi oriented.
