The best things to come out of the monkey ball games are the two mini games monkey target(1) and monkey baseball. me and my friend still play these mini games all the time..

Doesn't affect it too much. Just looks kinda lame and half assed

Monkey ball looks good.
Cant say much for the monkey butt touching though

I was hoping they woulda useda 3D chunky ball instead of a 2D one, but heck, this just means the levels will look better. Too bad the game doesnt go online for multiplayer :/

Anyone try Ripping or trimming the game yet? Doesnt look like it uses a full 64 megs to me. A little messing around in the files will tell for sure though :3 Gonna go grab a copy.

I do hope the multiplayer is atleast multibootable. The puzzles are only worth beating once, but the multiplayer is the best xD

Oh and the GBA game was pretty good

It was just a port of the oriognal, wich made the levels boring since I played the GCN one already, but its still good.

I have the second GCN one, but I never play it much since I beat all the levels and unlocked all the multiplayer wich isnt fun unless someone else is playing too. The CPUs are rather predicatable and at times more annoying than any fun to play against :/

Meh, I tried this version but I prefer the GBA Super Monkey Ball...
Something about the controls really bugs me, it seems hard to use and not as accurate as the D-Pad in the gba version. Also the 2D ball and character instead of 3D just looks stupid in a 3D environment

The expert mode in the GC one was just damn impossible. There is no way you can pass that thing (without cheats

). That's what I don't like about Super Monkey Ball, it's just too damn impossible on the harder settings - and the easy ones only have 10 or 20 levels. Multiplayer and minigames, on the other hand, are the best part, especially racing.

it might be because of the DS's embarassingly low polygon limit though other games have found cleverer ways around that. or the programmers went insane and thought it would be cute to have a 2d monkey.

I think it's the later. The programmers went insane. I mean seriously, to start the game you have to spank the monkey.....

Yeah...
Replace sound_data.dat by a small one, and after (HARD CUT i know

) truncate some files in stcoli, personnaly I've removed golf* and smb2*
But as this game is crap I don't know if it's really playable (just try out 5 levels)..
