Looks like a flute, yes.

And I think those pics are from a beta, if you look at the newer pics at Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/ds/action/kimmunicator/screenindex.html) you´ll see att the statusmenu has changed some.

why thay make theses creep plataformers.. thay culd do a beautiful 2d game like castlevania..

or make a not linear plataformer... t
