My Dreamcast, which I’ve had for about two years now, no longer outputs anything to the display. No sound or video. It also doesn’t read discs, no spinning at all, almost like it isn’t booting. The VMU in the controller turns on, but it remains on a blank screen. I took it to my local games store, and they said that the AV port is the issue, and “we can’t fix it.” Is it possible that it is the AV port? Or something else?

A bad A/V port wouldn't stop the entire console from "powering" on.

If it doesn't even attempt to read discs (i.e. laser not turning on) and the VMU sits blank, your problems are probably elsewhere and much deeper.

VMU being blank could mean it's bad, but unlikely.

Do you have a multimeter? First thing I'd check is the voltages coming from the power supply.

Edit:

IIRC I had an issue with my DC once and I think cleaning the contacts on the power supply (both oth outside and in) helped.
