SEGA had plans to bring the SNES Dragon's Lair platformer to the Genesis, but the project was never released. Famed prototype collector MrMark0673 has announced that he is ready to dump and release the ROM. The prototype cart was purchased for $800 and the game is described as being 100% playable. Currently only 1 action animation has been found missing. The ROM is being released as part of a summer long prototype project, and as a result we are unable to link to the source of this news!

I can see why it was never released. It's not a very good game.

Indeed, it is not a very good game as well as snes version. A laser disc was so much better than this one. Did you check Game Boy Color version ? It was better than SNES version. [IMG]

There was only one good Dragons Lair game and that was on the Gamecube.

Dragon's Lair is not only for DSi. There was also a DS cart version released. I should know, I was the one who....err.....added it to the release list. Yeah, that's what I mean to say. [IMG] http://gbatemp.net/?showtopic=274535

Just checked this out. Yes, the Genesis version is the basically the same game as the SNES version, but less detailed. Most likely, that's because the Genesis version never actually got released and therefore was never actually fully developed before they stopped work on it. Sound is horrid compared to the SNES version.

I think I'll go scope that GBC version and see what it's like.....

I'm pretty sure Cinematonics/Taito/whatever still owns the right to Dragon's Lair, and even though it's unreleased it's still their intellectual property.

Plus, as AW said, it's part of a series of releases, so they couldn't link to it either way.

The platform home console versions were pretty abysmal, but at least there were actual games rather than the soulless money hoover that was the arcade version.

so wait are there ds cart versions of dragonslair 2 time warp and or space ace ? or just DL 1 ?
i have the 1st one and it is really good, although i was disapointed that the voice control feature they talked about was not included in the game,or was it? maybe it is there but a hidden feature where you have to enter a code or complete the game once or maybe even twice to unlock it?anyone know? or did they just scrap it completely?
also there was a good console port of DL ,for 3do it was one of my favorite incarnations of the game to date
