Ok, I'm a bit excited about this:

CHUD has learned from a casting notice that James Wong ("Final Destination" films, The One, "The X-Files") is writing and directing the live action Dragon Ball Z movie for 20th Century Fox. The site has included the casting breakdown, which you can read here. Dragon Ball Z is adapted from the manga created by Akira Toriyama; the work was also turned into a Japanese anime series that played all over the world. It tells the story of an alien sent to destroy Earth, who has a change of heart and decides to join the humans in their fight against various aliens and bad guys.

It looks like they'll be taking many many liberties with the story, but that's kinda par for the course with Dragonball movies anyway.

Yeah, but Goku is 18, and the whole shebang starts off (kinda) at the King Piccolo Saga. Also, the've got Mai in there, but where's Shu and, more importantly Pilaf?

I want my Pilaf! Don't they know that midgets work for half-scale?
(I know, inappropriate joke at little people's expense, I'm sorry.)

Anyway, yes, it's not Z without Vegeta.

Also, if you like really really cheeeeeezy movies, try out Dragonball: The Magic Begins. Live action mix of Dragonball and Journey to the East. Really funny, if you like that kind of thing.

I hope this comes out. Good or horrible I will love this. It'll either be a cool movie or an absolutely hilarious piece of crap. Also I heard Spielberg was producing it. Don't know if he is or the project is alive, but he produces a million things a year.

well, if this film really does come out and actually works out you know theyre gonna be milking it for all its worth
expect sequels of DBZ/GT and live action Pokemon
live action bleach or shaman king would be pretty cool though
they can make it all dark and moody and stuff

From the outset, the leads seem so horribly warped that I have a hard time believing this is going to be any good. :-/

It sucks that they are not really going to be doing the dragonball series proper justice!

Wow, my childhood is flashing in front of my eyes all at once!

I used to absolutely love DBZ and I dreamed of a live action movie...now that I think about it, it's probably going to be lame. Really lame.
