A new Nintendo DS game has been announced- Dragonball Kai Ultimate Butouden. Based off the TV series Dragonball Kai (which in itself is a heavily remastered and improved edit of the original DBZ show), Ultimate Butouden is a fighting game. It appears to use cel shaded 3D graphics, boasting some impressive looking visuals for the DS. The game was unveiled in the newest issue of Shonen Jump magazine. Thus far, it shows Goku, Krillin, and Perfect Cell as playable characters. Judging by the rest of the Dragonball fighting games, you can probably expect a huge lineup of playable characters, especially the Budokai series.

It's good to know that even with the 3DS coming, the regular old DS is still being supported by developers. No word on how the game plays yet besides being a fighter. Ultimate Butouden will be released February 3rd, 2011 in Japan. A US release is not announced, but seems likely due to the success of the series overseas. If so, it is likely to have the title Dragonball Z Kai, hence the title of the US dub of the TV show. [/p]

Being a huge fan of DBZ and my NDS, I feel that this is a great idea.
The scans look amazing, and I can't wait to see how the gameplay works out.

I really want a new 2D DBZ game, in the manner of Super Butouden 3. But that won't happen, because all but a few developers have left 2D fighters to die while they push their imprecise 2.5D fighters on us.

By the looks of it, it seems to have potential. Hopefully, it'll not be as horribly bad as the 2.5D Naruto DS fighting games.

Seems like the DS isn't dead yet. Interesting.

Dragon Ball: Supersonic Warriors 2 in 2,5D? OH GOD YES!
SSW2 was already 2.5D. The environments were 3D models and the characters were sprites. This is a fully 3D game. And you may or may not be able to move in 3D space, but whatever. This looks closer to the Budokai or Budokai Tenkaichi series.
