The Xbox Games Showcase has revealed that Dragon Quest XI S is leaving its exclusivity on the Nintendo Switch to join new platforms soon. On December 4th, the definitive version of Dragon Quest XI will make its way to Xbox One and Game Pass, Windows 10, PlayStation 4, and Steam. The original localization of the game launched in September 2018, and was followed up by a version with new story content, orchestral music, and a retro sprite mode a year later, of which was only available on the Nintendo Switch. Square Enix also confirmed that Dragon Quest XI S will head to the Xbox Series X as well.

I already have the PS4 version, remember when stuff like this was a free update?

Oh I played this on Switch. Up until I got to that stupid squid boss. Made the game unplayable for me, that takes too much grinding I'm not willing to do.

yknow what helps me when I'm stuck on a JRPG boss? look up the boss HP, have a calculator next to you and subtract all the damage you make. A lot of the tension comes from not knowing.

The only change I need from this game before I play it is to let me to change the annoying girl haircut to a boy haircut.

I don't want to see that girl haircut anywhere in the game. Not on cutscenes, hud, menus.. nowhere.

No. I remember when stuff like this was charged full price for.

As far back as the Street Fighter II games on Genesis and SNES.

Marvel v Capcom 3. Under a year by, "Ultimate"! Marvel v Capcom 3.

It could just be a question of tactics. I've watched low level vids where they just have one character spam multi-thrust with a spear, and the other three are either buffing the strength of the multi-thruster, debuffing the defense of the squid, or healing.

Looking at Square track record, probably not. PS Vita / PS3 / PS4 simultaneous release are not cross-sold, FFVIII (8) Remastered is a separate purchase than FFVIII although its the same game fixed and FFVII Remake is actually a part 1/3 instead of a full remake.
Well if they milk this game into a separate title I'm going to have grab my crew and set sail among the Blackpearl. B/c I'm not buying the same game twice just for audio content... not to mention we had someone make the music mod way before the Definitive version was announced for the Switch

If they were fair, they can sell the aditial content also as dlc instead of selling a new full price game.

Yeah. What were you expecting? The Switch version was already the Definitive Edition. What were they going to do? Create a Definitve-er Edition and leave the Switch out of the loop? This way, PC and the PS4 and Switch are all in the same place.

Of course you will be expecting an update utilizing the ps4/pc power and not a same downgraded port of the switch.

I wonder if there will be an upgrade path for those of us who already own the original version on Steam.

Other then that this is good news.

Same, hoping this is offered as an upgrade. Although I don't entirely see OG saves being compatible.

EDIT: Just saw that this is going to be a direct PORT of the Switch version. Well, shit. Not surprised, tbh.

I suppose I can see that being an issue if that sort of thing is important to you. It personally doesn't mean much to me, but I respect that that matters you.
