Because taxes are very expansive. Normally I buy every Dragon Quest, I even have 2 DQ8, but this one isn't planned in Europe.

so is it recommended for people interested in this game to play 4 and 5 first? or just jump straight in and play 6 since this is supposed to be the best one?

Whatever you want, really. If I had to throw in a recommendation, I would say that you should play 4 first. It's such a fast paced game, but it'll give you a good feel for what it's like to play through a DQ game. Follow it with 5, then 9, then 6. Why? Because it'll give you time to get over having played a two traditional DQ's in a row.

Another recommendation; when you start DQ 4, set the text speed to medium. Then, 3/4 of the way through the game, set it to fast. It's like a rollercoaster!

You do realise the ludicrousness of that statement? You're saying that US groups are so good these days it'd be faster for someone in Europe to IMPORT a game that's already late into US stores? With the actual difficulty of finding a place to ship to many European countries that's essentially backing up the statement you're denying!

The EU doesn't even HAVE a release date for the game!

I was just pointing out there was no need to blame US teams, they are certainly willing to dump it... I never wanted to insult anyone out there.

I never really liked Dragon Quest before, didn't know it was only release in japan until some time and it didn't have good 'reputation' in my mind.
I played Dragon Quest 9, and just, wow. Impressed by the post-content of that game. I then tried to play Dragon Quest VII, had a lot of fun with it. I've not finished it yet.
I read about DQ 4 and 5, and I don't know if I would like them, they seems a bit less fun. I should try.
