So can we throw money at the hacking issue? Or is the problem more that it's almost impossible for someone to actually solve it even if someone skilled put their time into this?

Not too sure, but if it's like ich's previous work all it takes is time and patience; yes i'd love to see this completed too.

I'm a strong believer that everything computer related is possible, but at the same time some things require a skilled person with the desire to do so. I think this is no exception and money can't buy that. And @Koroshi yes, patience is definitely required. For the person trying to overcome this issue and for all the others waiting for the fix.
