Why does the English in this game suck so badly? "Enemy am defeated" "I am become Master of Nu'un." and many, many more grammar f'ups. This is why we have a country that can't spell worth a damn. Also, since this is released in the US it should be using US spelling of words like "defense" instead of "defence."

    Thoughts?

Well the spelling of the words is ignorant.
Not everyone has to spell American simply because it was released there. Pretty stupid expectation.
Especially since defence looks better >.>

But yeah, the quality of the translation really is subpar.

    Where rockets don't fall.
Master of Nu'un is a pun (and the name of the boss) and I think almost every thing in the game is a pun of some sort (like the Fource).

No need to take things too seriously.

    Ugh you people.
The translation quality is excellent, pretty much all those things you mention are done in purpose.
Have you even played other DQ games?

Defence looks better if you aren't from the US, if you are it looks wrong.

I don't care about any other game my point is this shouldn't have so many errors in it, makes the game look cheap and budget-made.

    Probably being lazy.
I am actually quite humored at the bad grammar and English in this game.

    It are make me laugh!

It's kind of reminiscent of older NES games where the translation was so horribly bad that it was just epically funny.

I have lived in the US my entire life and I think defence and armour look better. Also, maybe it's just in my mind, but "Enemy are defeated" at least almost makes sense, all they did was remove the word "The". I didn't even notice a lot of the other things you mentioned, but maybe I wasn't reading certain parts of the text that carefully.

People can't spell worth a damn because the English language evolved like a fish in a radioactive dump site.

Also, way to be with having a ton of grammatical errors in your posts while complaining about grammatical errors in a game. This is why we have a country full of arrogant fucks.

Pot... Kettle... Black? Who the hell are you to criticize anybodys grammar when using phrases like that?

A lot of the dialogue is written phonetically too, to mimic a regional accent, I thought to myself while playing that a lot of Americans weren't likely to get that... I was right!

EDIT: I'm still laughing really hard! American people whining about bad English!.....
EDIT2: Post amended. Not all Americans are idiots...

Please don't use these special cases to generalize all of us Americans [IMG]
As many people have already mentioned the quality of the translation is great; haven't you played Dragon Quest games before, much of the text is stylized and that's the way it should stay.

My apologies. I wasn't trying to upset Americans, or anyone else for that matter. Post amended...

I'm also a born and bred American and I happen to think that "armour" and "defence" look just fine. And I thought all the "accents" were really well done. My grandfather is from downtown Dublin, Ireland, and people do speak with such thick, unintelligible accents. I can rarely understand him. The phonetically spelled words are well done and really get across how the people speak without using voice acting at all. I thought it was all really well done and the puns are downright hilarious. I love all the references and jokes in DQ. It's great.

...unfortunatelly there are many people who don't think like you...

...and all that these people want to is screw everything up, they don't even care to know why the things are that way...>.

It's not just released in the US. Ever heard of Canada?
We spell it as 'defence'. So do the British. Majority wins.
