Gaming DQ IX, stuck in a boss fight.

Well I yesterday did start with playing DQIX and I did end up with a Black Knight. He seems to be to hard for my level 9 main character. How can I defeat him cos I tried about 5 times >.>

Is there a character that I can recruit? Or do I need to train my character a LOT more?

You should have created a party before fighting. Do you not have a party?

Go to the inn in Stornway talk to the older blue haired chick and you can create your other party members.

A cleric with the barrier spell is very useful in this fight. In fact, in every boss fight. DQIX is one of the rares RPGs in which buffs can really change the issue of a battle.
