My friend doesn't have any use for her PSTV with Henkaku already on it and is thinking of selling it to me, but before we go through that whole process I want to know if it lacks anything the Vita on custom firmware offers that I might care about. I couldn't find any information about this online but I know the super slim PS3 is much worse for cracking than the regular/slim.

As far as CFW goes they are exactly the same. The only differences are that PSTV is obviously not portable, and some games are unplayable on it (those that NEED touchscreen)

This is the most helpful answer I've ever gotten on a forum site, thanks a ton for the extra work like notes and stuff. On that note I'll get it off her as a PS1 emulation machine if I like her price, that was my main intended use for it anyway.

That list is too long to be true. Most of them are compatible with PSTV. For example Secret of Mana in Vita Games and Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles from PSP games works without doing any trick (there is no blacklist on PSP games so that list is fake). Also https://github.com/KuromeSan/DolcePolce plugin makes all the games compatible (launchable).
Of course some games may be difficult to play without touch screen, but you can use dualshock 4 and a in game pointer.

You can play all incompatible games using a blacklist removal app, official touchscreen/touchpad wrapper for DS3/4, DSMotion for gyroscope games and FakeCamera for camera games.

There are some PSP incompatible games due timing and error tolerance issues between the real hardware and the Vita's virtual machine, but most of them have been patched officially (like The Force Unleashed) or unofficially (check PPSSPP forum).

Only real difference is the PSTV not being portable.
Like others said with hacks and patches, 99% of the library is playable.

remember: updates can't be installed while using whitelist v2. I don't know if they'll even work and subsequent dlc if you reenable whitelist v2 after updating a game on the pstv. the update won't even appear on the livearea when clicking a game. most games work, but it's more like 90%. there's a param.sfo flag that prevents the remaining 10% from working. I don't know if it's even possible to modify it or if enough is known to do so. that would be like whitelist v3, which doesn't exist currently. the param.sfo information is recorded in the app.db in the appinfo table. most of what's in there is understandable but some of it is not. you can see yours by using sqlite browser and your app.db.

use the plugin "DolcePolce", dont use the blacklist, black list v1 and v2 are outdated methods with a lot of issues.

DolcePolce work without any issue as far i know, dlc/updates too.

I don't use doclepolice, because the dev has known brickers in the wild. be careful.

Altho Silica has released brickers, such a thing hasn't occurred for quite a while.

Plugins could potentially brick the entire console.
One could write up a kernel plugin that elevates IO permissions and sets every partition as writable.
It could theoretically start wiping vs0, os0 etc after you've booted your vita.
