Hardware Downloading an Update or Another Game Entirely While Gaming

And, natively, if you buy a digital game, yes. It downloads while playing another game. The same with updates.

yes, natively. I figured it out by looking at the download bar, playing a little, then looking at it again. thanks for the replies.

Oh, I thought you meant to copy games to your SD while playing. I figured it was quite obvious that the eshop does this natively.

Also you might want to know that it won't background download while playing an online title iirc.

It depends. The switch can and will download while you are playing another game UNLESS the game you are playing is using an internet connection. An example, you can download while playing a single player game, but it will pause as soon as you start playing online with your friends.

It actually tells you that it'll continue downloading in the background unless you're using internet if you press A on the downloading title.

the download just started after using a download code and downloading an update. that window didn't appear.

Did you try to play the game that is downloading? What does it say?

I did not. I entered the download code for mega man x legacy collection 2, then started playing part 1. the update for octopath traveler also didn't have any message.
