Hacking Download Play

Hey all, just a quick question I was curious about -

I know download play doesn't work on all games, but I was wondering, why is that? Is it a hardware constraint, or something to do with the software on the cards? Is it something that will be hopefully resolved in time or are we going to have to buy a new peice of hardware eventually?

When flashcarts run they patch the game as it is running. This slightly alters the code of the game.
When you send a download play game to somebody it has been patched so the code has been altered and the game can detect this so it does not run.
