    is it possible to make dota playable on the ds.

    not really all of warcraft.
    just that one custom game dota.

    Well, Tower Defense has been ported over. But DotA is a completely different animal. Not only do 92 heroes have to be translated, but all the animations, and spell animations. Also, would the AI or regular one be ported? If AI, you have to build the AI for all the heroes, on all three difficulty settings.

    Basically, I would answer "No, it's never going to happen", but I'm not going to say it's impossible.

    Perhaps a scaled version? Instead of 92 heroes, only 20 are emulated (maybe even less). All graphic-heavy animations could be reduced to simple animations, and the AI could be specially tailored to meet the maximum capabilities of the DS.

    I'm just saying its possible, but its definitely not going to be a 1:1 port. A very scaled down version is possible though, but that could horrendously affect the fun of playing dota. Heck, at the end of the day, lets just forget about it.
