The first big Nintendo release of the year also brings about the first big Nintendo game leak of the year. Leaked onto the internet two days before its release is Donkey Kong Country Returns HD for the Nintendo Switch. The game is a remaster of a 2010 Wii game, which also found its way onto the 3DS and even the Nvidia Shield TV in China. This version of the game offers extra levels first introduced in the 3DS port, HD graphics, and a "modern mode" which gives Donkey Kong an extra heart of health. Donkey Kong Country Returns HD will officially release on January 16th.

Because nintendo send out its games early, knowing it'll get leaked so they can hunt down YouTubers and others millions.

So if the game flops, they've still made money.

Though I can't see it loosing money, yet again its another fucking lazy arse port and as for its "HD remaster" as usual they've done fuck all to remaster the game.

Its just a fucking port that runs at higher resulting with the switch having better hardware than the 3DS.

Exactly like emulating games, PS1/N64 look amazing in 4K, but they've not been remastered or altered at all.

This is exactly why Nintendo sue folks behind emulation, they cant have it known to the world how inferior nintendo are.

That people behind emulators are able to make nintendo games run better, look better than nintendo can on their own consoles.

We do not need new consoles with intentionally inferior hardware so third parts can not support them with their new AAA titles.

I just 100%'d it on 3DS, and I feel the same. I guess I might enjoy playing it on a Switch Lite, since it has a d-pad. But since I have it on Wii and 3DS already, I think I can handle being deprived of it this time around.

It matters because leakers, for a reason that I'm sure we will never know, only target games made and/or published by Nintendo. And Nintendo, who always DMCA's every single thing related to their consoles or IPs, does not do anything?

I've personally never played a single DKC game, so I think I'm going to pick up this and Tropical Freeze when the Switch 2 drops

Does that include the SNES games? The SNES trilogy is part of my childhood, so I tend to recommend them. You have to get used to the way the games play, but once you do, there's some good platforming there.
