Just thought I'd make a thread about a video posted showing off some of the new content in the 3DS port of Donkey Kong Country Returns. This can also serve as a general thread for the game if you like.

And in case you missed the direct feed good quality trailers from months back as well as the Nintendo Direct yesterday, i'll post them as well-
    Warning: Spoilers inside!

For those who don't know already, the port contains 8 brand new levels that weren't seen in the Wii version in addition to all the content already in the Wii version. There's also a new optional easy mode that adds an extra heart the each character's life bar, allows you some extra hits during mine car and rocket barrel levels (so no instant deaths), and allows you to obtain green balloons that can save you from falling into a bottomless pit. Of course if you prefer the original unaltered difficulty, that's still available in the 3DS version as well.

And of course motion controls aren't present anymore. They've mapped the shake-based moves to X or Y now, so rolling and ground pounding are now handled with simple buttons presses (shake controls were a rather widespread gripe with the original game, so this should please some people).

Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D is coming to 3DS on May 24th in the US and EU. The port is being handled by Monster Games (not personally being overseen by Retro), but from what it appears the port seems to be shaping up to be a good one (particularly how close it is to the Wii version graphically).

Looks pretty good, though you already have shaking mapped to buttons on a Classic Controller if you have Gecko OS >:)

Personally can't wait. I never bought the Wii version, and I only played the first few levels when I rented it. Mainly excited because the Wii in my house, while mine and mine alone, is heavily argued about. Nobody gives a crap about my 3DS, on the other hand.

I was going to skip this release but not now thanks to the Club Nintendo promotion, one of the reasons why I import most 3DS things from Amazon UK!
DKCR will be my free game of choice, hyped.

I will be happy to not have to shake anything to get DK to do things.
