Nice things to say about Donald Trump? This'll be a hard one, but ey...I guess it's fair.
This is back about a year from now. Kim Jong-un was known as rocketman, and didn't like the scolding much. So he started (or arguably continued) making covert threats toward America. Y'know...testing missiles and boasting they could reach the US mainland and such. Trump just called him bluff and said that his button (to fire the rockets) was bigger and worked.
Yes, it's juvenile. Yes, it's the sort of risk you don't want anyone to take. But damnit...it worked. Kim abandoned the war talks and there was a meeting planned and held. I'm fairly sure that if Trump was a seasoned politician (or even let himself be assisted by a seasoned politician), he could've succeeded where so many others had failed. And in a weird way...he did succeed. North and South Korea seem to be away from the brink of war with each other.
Another good thing: he hasn't started a (foreign) war yet, and it seems unlikely that he'll get one. This might sound cynical, but when weighing actions, it counts for a lot. Those Bushes just started wars for oil and pretended that it was for the sake of the nation. That's one extremely large and costly lie. Compared to that...exactly how bad is a constant string of (relatively) small and unrelated lies?
Finally: I've read that since Trump became president, civil engagement has gone way up. Of course, Trump's victory is often seen as a sign of this: people were already sick and tired of what the political system had became. The election just might be the spark that starts large protests (and in a way, these are already happening).
We all are. Too much overexposure. I’m out.
Erm...so did why start the thread, exactly?
