Hello, doing a quick search on ebay I can find lots of 64 GB micro sd cards in the price range of 25 euros.
These are two, the first one is 16 euros and the samsung one is 25 euros.
should I spend more for the samsung?
Are they good with the Gateway or should I look for something else?
Is 64 gb compatible with it (thinking ahead of the multirom)?
Or it cannot handle that size?
And anyway what do you reccomend? What's the best and possibly fastest card or card family to use with the Gateway?

Micro SDHC Memory Card and Adapter with up to 64GB Capacity

general consensus is, cheap high capacity card on ebay = high chance of being ripped off.

    It's never a good idea. There's a high risk of failure. Seriously, that's much too cheap for a UHS-1 Class 10 64GB.

There's a load of them, it's not just a single reseller, that's the price average.
    Thanks for the tip anyway.

But still, assuming it's decent quality, would it be a good card for the gateway or what would you recommend?

The 16 euro one is definitely too cheap, 25 euros seem possible, it's usually what you find microsdxc cards for when there's a sale.

Check their ebay feedback for people who bought the same item like you. A lot of times it's actually a smaller size card, but spoofed so windows sees it as 64gb. What happens is that after you write past the real capacity, it starts overwriting your previous files so you may not even know. Make sure to test it thoroughly if it is fake, ebay is usually very good about buyer protection so you should get your money back anyway.

Also, if it's from China or Hong Kong, HUGE chance of it being fake.

I don't think 64 gig is supported yet but they said it's on their to-do list. Only thing I have seen is to not use Kingston brand as people have reported issues with them and Gateway. I use a Transcend, but I haven't used it enough to really say whether it's good or not but I haven't had issues yet.

I got a kingston 32 class 10 ultra speed from amazon; havent had no issues.

64gb is a paged size too, and may not work properly in the gateway; id stick with 32GB if your unsure

oh and yes, id get 32gb - with multirom on the way theres no reason to get 100x8gb cards any more.

Like what one of the poster posted before me, however you cannot even rely on the number of positive feedback on eBay, because Ignorance is a bliss, so it's better to look at the negative feedback and it's descriptions. A lot of people just pops them in their device like an SD card reader and in Windows sees it as 64GB and say hey, that's the capacity that I supposed to get, and they just leave a positive feedback not knowing they were ripped off. Stay away from eBay and buy locally at your brick and motor stores or from reputable resellers if you want to avoid the headache of having a fake SD card. Not only capacity can be faked, but the speed rating can easily be faked as well. Heck, I have encountered fakes from sellers located in the USA on eBay. The nice thing about most Chinese sellers, is that if you call them on it, they will refund your money and let you keep the card as well. Although the card is practically useless. I usually get SD and microSD cards in high capacity on Black Friday sales, downside to this is this is only once per year, and I scored a SanDisk 64GB class 10 UHS-1 for $35 at Best Buy (aka Worst Buy) Online w/ free shipping. Generally these cards usually $60.00 and up. Also keep in mind that it isn't limited to 64GB capacity micro and SD size that is faked, all capacity is usually faked on eBay, except for maybe the lower ones like 2GB.

yeah i wouldnt buy any larger sized SD card on ebay its just FULL of fakes hence why you can find loads for the same price, and looking for them more expensive on ebay hoping they are genuine can back fire too as idiots think they can just buy them cheap and resell them for the RRP of a genuine card, stick to stores you know would be sued if they sold fakes, you will pay more but you wont start copying files on then it craps out and the seller wants you to return a card with your data locked on to it with no possibility of formatting or anything

Thanks everybody for the input, ok so I will try to avoid ebay for sd cards, even from ebay shops.

However, from what I understood from your replies, I should also NOT buy a 64 gb card yet. Isn't 32 gb too small for multirom?
That sounds like 8-10 games on the card, I know that sounds like a lot but it's really not, I have a ds card and 2 gb seemed like a lot 4 years ago
but I always struggled with the games I should put on the card, especially when I played one big game, 30-40 should be enough.

So will 64 be able to just support 32 gb for the moment (like I can format it to 32 and then when gateway let me I will format it as 64)
or will it just be rejected?

You should get 32GB unless you want to wait months for 64GB support (they said they'd do it, but who knows when).
Good brands to get are samsung and transcend. Like others mentioned, just avoid kingston to be safe. Also make sure to get class 10 or higher.

People don't understand that the SDXC spec is just an SDHC card formatted as exFAT. Use the Panasonic SD card formatter to format it as 64GB FAT32, and it will work fine with Gateway.

Buy a class 10, minimum. Anything slower, and you may experience lag.

First of all, sorry for the delays and thanks for your patience and support.
Our final 2.0 firmware will be released soon. We can't give an exact date yet,
as we can find some bugs while testing in depth the firmware on various consoles
versions and region, but it won't be long.

Gateway 3DS supports MicroSD up to 32GB Class 10.
We are working on making 64GB compatible for the multi-rom loader, but it is not
100% yet, so wait until we confirm.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i already posted this in another forum hopefully it doesn't get another new thread on the same subject
