Solution
Yes. You can use the Namiio software to interface with Datel's NFC reader/writer thing, and that lets you select whatever amiibo bins you've downloaded.
Yeah, that's what I do. It'll complain that the NFC figurine you're using isn't in the Namiio database, but it'll still work just fine.
