Scopohobia, it's a social anxiety disorder, having a fear of being stared at or drawing attention to yourself. In other words, it makes you uncomfortable to be seen as the center of attention by many people. I encounter someone awhile back who talked to me about this and now I was wondering if I may have self realized that may be me. But what about you, do you think you have that too? To be clear, this only counts for when you are around people, not really someone looking at a picture of you or through some other medium. :ninja:

Not extreme, but yes. I’m pretty tall (6’2”) and sometimes, feel like people are looking at me. I’ll “catch” eyes with shoppers, or whatever. It’s a bit weird, but I know that they aren’t “out to get me”. Also, I’ve been told many times “you remind me of my uncle/cousin” by different people. I guess I have a fimiliar face. I also take really good care of my teeth. People comment on that from time to time. This all used to bother me when I was younger, but I try not to care as much. If I wore dark glasses inside, or a hood, to “hide” myself, it’d be much worse.

Honestly, I think I may have a bit of this. I use public transportation quite a bit, so I'm always afraid that I'm drawing some unwanted negative attention, especially considering how subways and commuter trains can best be described as "passive-aggressive hell." I'm always worrying if I'm looking at someone the wrong way, worrying if they're peeking over at my screen, worrying if I should have said "sorry" or not; it's ridiculous.

It also seems to come up whenever a group of people start praising me for something I did, which might be more a self-esteem issue than anything else.

I'm trying to get over it, though, by conditioning myself. Yesterday, for the heck of it, I started emulating some old PC Engine games on my 3DS on the subway ride home. Let them stare if they want; their lives don't affect me anyways.

Used to worry about such things in the past, but for almost a decade now, I've just stopped caring, so doesn't matter whether I'm the center of attention. The trick is to understand how pointless it is to worry about such stuff and you are good to go out:P

Yes, all the time, nags at me, I hate it when I am the center of attention. I hate being the center of anything really, I hate lead, I hate Helping lead, and usually anyone focuses on me, it's to laugh some correlation that includes me. I hate doing stuff around people I don't know, it's a mind handicap, and a nuisance. for an event I was called to come up, half way up there I had a panic attack, I still went up, but I was jittery, my leg was shaking af, I forgot to keep on breathing, I would stutter, wasn't fun. I also have problems trusting other people, along with Paranoia that everyone is bad(among other things).

That's usually why I like to be with one person, and not a group, a group is stressful man. I like being with one person, and no more, Takes stress off me, and I can focus on that one person. Just a person, that I like, and no more.

I definitely have a fear of drawing attention to myself, I also worry a lot about what others think of me, even strangers.
Though I don't know if that means I have scopophobia ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I literally work nights with a job title that requires me to not be noticed. I went that far to be a productive member of society, while completely avoiding being near anyone. I do not want people near me, the closest I want most people near me is about 5 feet. I also really do not like people looking at me nor really gaining any attention from people.
I actually have a hard time interacting with people, like paying bills in person my worst nightmare, hell order food is even extremely uncomfortable. I simply can't interact with random people and feel even worse when I actually have to do something engaging with them. This has been an actual issue for me my entire life and most of the time I need someone I trust to help me out so I don't just shutdown and leave whatever I am doing.
It's kind of ironic that I am one the most popular members on this site, but in real life I can't even say "hi" to someone loud enough for them to hear me.

Honestly? I've never thought about it. I've got what can be considered a mild form of this. I've got some social anxiety, and I absolutely despise being the center of attention. It causes complete frustration and I tend to fumble around a lot. Especially in bigger groups. I never liked being called on in class because of this. I have to speak in front of people at work, and halfway through my speech I lose my nerve. It's not fun.

I don't like anyone staring at me or observing me, it makes me feel really nervous.
If we are the protagonists of our lives I want to consider myself a side character

If your throat closes, putting oxygen in your mouth will not solve anything - as you will be introducing oxygen prior to the area of obstruction

You either need to be intubated to bypass obstruction or create a stoma inferior to the the area of obstruction to survive
