Does a PSP 3000 V5.03 recognize a genuine 16GB Sony memory stick if it does my NEW PSP is broken

I've never seen a genuine 16 GB stick so I can't be certain, but IIRC 5.01 fixed the problems with memory sticks up to 8 GB.

I got my money back because it was only about a week old and I am looking for a replacement with V5.03 on it, no luck yet but still hoping
