2.0 Will not support Real Time save. At least not like you know it (save state feature).
The "real time" term Gateway used refer to something else.

Currently, to backup the save data to SD card, you need to exit the game using Home > X
doing this start the backup process and copy the content of the Flashcart's own memory to SD card's xxxxxxxxxxxx.sav file.

"Real time save" refer to "Automatically access SD card's file to save the game's progress, no need to press Home > X anymore".
It saves to SD card in real time, without requiring the user to press Home+X.

It won't be a save state feature, like the one used in Emulators (and named "RTS" in DS mode flashcarts).

3DS hacking is too shallow to perform something like that.
Actually, we really don't know what Gateway's team is capable of at this time, all we know is that they have not announced any information pertaining to the inclusion of an RTS feature. The main thing that would hold it back is that RTS means to take a snapshot of the game's RAM at a given time. As games can use up to, I believe, around 100MB of the 128MB of system RAM for their games, that would mean dumping all that data to the SD card, and loading all that from the SD card, for each RTS slot. At the very least, it would be rather time consuming for the user, due to the transfer speed from the internal SD card over the system BUS to RAM. One way or another, it wouldn't be convenient. However, considering Gateway's display of dumping the system ROM in software, and numerous homebrew examples of dumping the active RAM, it can certainly be called "possible", even at this time, just not implemented or, as of yet, planned.
