Do you try to finish the games you start?

I used to try and finish every game I started but not anymore. If I'm 5-10 hours in and am not enjoying it then I give up and play something else instead. Sure giving up half way instead of persisting can be a lack of dedication to what you do but we play games primarily for entertainment. It's not our work or studies.

Only if I really want to. I tend to give up much faster than that too, can range from two hours to 10 minutes. I didn't last long on Tears of the Kingdom, as BoTW already wore me out on the formula. Not even the femboy mod saved it.

Some other games like Pizza Tower I just put on hiatus. I'm at probably half the and stopped playing for no reason. Someday I'll come back to it.

I feel sadden by seeing this, so much good content in the latter stages, Especially the Noise update content
Well it's good to know that there's good content waiting. Don't worry, I'll return to it someday, especially now that it's on the Switch.

Also I want to try Peppina mod someday.

I've been trying to finish more recently, especially those I've dropped for a while. Been working my way through Xenoblade Chronicles over the past few months, and I want to finish ToTK and the new M&L before the year is out.

Certainly not. With 1500+ games on steam, roughly the same on itch.io (gotta love huuuuge bundles :P ), roughly hundred console games (bargan bins when brick and mortar stores operated) and who knows how many emulated and pirated games...it's lunacy to even try. Presuming it even CAN be finished to begin with (how does one "finish" tetris, aside from breaking the game?).

Instead, I allow the game to challenge me. I start by giving it a chance to impress me after installation, but if it's too hard, boring or whatever to my taste, I just go with something else. My time has become more valuable than the possession, so I plan accordingly. Playing games I don't enjoy (anymore) isn't my idea of fun.

Modern games? Usually yes. I'm a trophy hunter, so the Platinum is always my goal...which requires finishing a game and doing everything it has to offer (in most cases). I finished Ghost Recon: Wildlands the other day, currently playing A Plague Tale: Innocence, probably Platting it today (definitely by tomorrow).

However, it really is the trophies that motivate me to do this. I have a bad habit with Switch games or retro games of getting pretty far and not finishing it. Like I played the GameCube version of Zelda: Wind Waker a little while back, got to the point where you need to collect the Tri-Force shards, and just....stopped. I was enjoying myself, but I haven't even looked at the game in months. Or more recently, playing Metroid Prime Remastered, I'm pretty much at the end, but decided to backtrack everywhere to get all the pickups so I could see the Good ending...got to about 80%, haven't touched the game in a couple of weeks. I haven't given up on it yet...but it's just strange I went from looking forward to playing it to just not playing it at all.

Maybe 60 percent of the time? I'll play a game until I either lost interest or until something in life pulls me away from it, which is pretty often. I've definitely dropped more games than I've beaten in the past 5 or so years.

Honestly I'm at a point where I'm pretty selective with the games I pick up to play. My digital library is massive, and there are loads of games that I'd love to play and beat, but there's just not enough time for it. I'm currently playing through Echoes of Wisdom (and enjoying it!), but I'm kind of trying to blitzkrieg it before something else pops up.

I go in with the best of intentions, but some games hit me like a brick wall. All of a sudden, I'll have no more motivation. It's as if I never liked the game in the first place, and the amount of energy I had to force any momentum reached zero. At that stage, I stop playing, and the likelihood that I'll ever play the game again looks bleak.

Since I've been studying, I've just been playing familiar games. The ones I can just jump in and out of with no obligations whatsoever.

This. As an adult, you have less time to indulge in games, so you end up being much more selective. Maybe it's like people's book collections, I'll just get to them when I retire.

What a retirement that'll be.
