The thing is Nintendo handhelds have always been region free until the 3DS, region locking always seemed like a backwards move on the 3DS. Then again Nintendo sold the 3DS XL without a charger here in the UK, thinking everyone who purchased it would be upgrading from a 3DS... so who knows with Nintendo, anything is possible.
Pretty much this. Next Nintendo handheld won't have a charger, digital only instruction booklet, and you gotta buy your stylus separately.

As for the topic! Nah, they'll just make the game slots different per region, so even if you do get some sort of home brew and get software region free, it won't be able to bypass the hard region free! Kinda like Snes region lock! :P

That would make absolutely no sense at all. Nintendo of Europe makes their Special Editions based in Germany for all of Europe if they were country-lock it then it'd defeat that purpose and make it all around unnecessarily complicated.

1. Not Serious
2. Region locking a handheld in the first place makes no sense at all, it's what Nintendo do best.

That would require Nintendo admitting they had a bad idea. Nintendo is not known for giving up on an idea, once they have it, it stays. Remember when they said the Wii U will be "hardcore" and get 3rd Party games like the XBone/PS4? But instead we got "Wii 2," because Nintendo kept up with the same bullshit from the Wii. Remember their other promises? But instead we got stripped down games, censorship, and region-locking.
Nintendo doesn't go back on an idea, once it's set in motion, they keep moving with it.

I'm still waiting for the "rumored" Metroid game that was supposed to be released for the Wii U.

How bout no. Don't like what i say then don't reply to it. You got upset enough to respond to me. Get lost.
Please don't pretend you know my feelings better than me. It's needlessly arrogant and doesn't help the discussion. I just want to hear people's reasons for why nintendo might or might not do it and talk about it (which means: replying to one another). I'm fine with us disagreeing on the topic, but jeez...keep it civil, will you?

Please forgive me for interjecting, but I have to point out that saying things like "Sorry...you're not important enough to me to become upset over your ignorance" seems to be rather escalatory. I know that in normal conversation it would be considered inflammatory. At the very least, can you see how it could be considered aggressive language?

I do see that, yes. And yes, I'm now sorry that I posted it like that.

Region locking is both nonsensical and bad for us gamers, so it certainly should be but Nintendo is super weird about shit like that so if I had to guess, I'd say no. Prove pessimists like me wrong Nintendo!

...and refuse to bundle a cheap USB charging cable (ebay sellers must be happy)
