Not just ROMs either. There are those who buy Steam etc.. as well as physical and (strangest of the lot) buy physical, don't open it, don't play it. Last but not least my personal fave:
The perpetual tweaker.
Gotta get the emulation just so, collate the ROMs, add some art, make it look real fancy and, oh yeah, put some LEDs in that bitch like its 2001 again!
Man I did so much of that back then. Now, not so much.
Got me thinking as the best pure gaming experiences I've had were with consoles running legit firmware where I bought one game, played it, traded it and then bought another. You really research what you buy, only pick quality and are generally a lot more discerning that way.
That said these days I'm almost at the point where I'd just watch a yt of the cutscenes of a game that interests me for the story as I'm too busy for the bloated mess that is modern gaming.
