I leave my computer on all the time since I don't like waiting for it to boot up.

I nearly always leave it on, because it is always downloading some sort of torrent. If it isn't, I turn it off. No need to leave it on and consume power that it doesn't really need.

My desktop machines are always on, mainly because I run various servers (mail, ssh, sftp, nfs, samba) on one, and the other is always downloading something.

Well, I'm on my computer most of the day, but when I'm not, I turn it off. (only since I live on myself tho, when I lived at my moms I just let it on. But now I like to save myself some money [IMG])
Unless I'm downloading something, then I make my computer shutdown automaticly when the download is done.

My laptop, is always in sleep mode when I'm not using it. So 1 push on the button and it's ready to be used.
I only turn it off if it needs a reboot for some app/game.

Proud to be Portuguese but I am in USA.
I had Dell for 6 years and I never had a problem. I always leave it on all day and turn it off when I went to bed. Thats all. Now, I have 2 years old computer I bought 2 years ago and I did the same thing so far. No problem at all. Its normal but sometime we went out all day then I turn it off for a day until we came back at night and turn it on to check the email then turn it off before go to bed. [IMG]

I've been only having it on when I am using, ever since I began paying my own electricity bills. It's a honkin' big gaming computer, that takes a bit of juice.

But when I didn't pay for electricity? It was on fooorreeevaaaaaa

During the day it is always turned on but when I don`t download anything and don`t use it I put it into sleep-mode (by just folding it - it`s a laptop btw).

When I sleep I always keep it turned off.

in the holidays it's on pretty much all day, and off at night. Rarely does it stay on at night, because it overheats, really now it's starting to get hotter in my room. But during week days, it's only on in the afternoon.

Usually always on during the day, sometimes on at night, but when I'm not going to use it it's usually switched off or sleeping. Depends on when I'm likely to use it again.
