I'm planning to get the game, and I don't have the GC version, but I do have a GC.

Somewhat and no. Does not matter really, but for those that have played Luigi's Mansion(NGC) it will bring nostalgia or some memories xD

    Edit: Mario!

Nope, I haven't played GC version. Having a good time with LM2. Less about the storyline, more about the gameplay.

Its better to play the GC one 1st but it does not really matter.

End of the day, the controls are very similar to Gamecube but with a few extra features.

You don't need to know either of the controls to play the other, but it's easy to adapt if you play one and then the other.

Not really. It's just a simple answer. But, boiled pasta.

Oh, alright then. I was just passing by the flea market, so I picked it up, I'll play it and get the 2nd one later.

I think that was the purpose of the subtitle after "Luigi's Mansion". I think its to denote you dont have to have played the older one to get the new one. Like the original Final Fantasy Tactics. The "newer" one was titled "Final Fantasy Tactics Advance".

Never played the original but I don't feel like I am missing anything so far.

Maybe I will be inspired to check it out once I beat this one because this is a really awesome game so far. It has exceeded my expectations. It's a bit too difficult for my Luigi loving kids who I mostly bought it for but I am really enjoying it.
