Quite literally a shower thought but something I thought might make a worthwhile topic. Hur durr you is all nerds so would not be allowed in so let's skip that one. Unlike most times people discuss cowering in their homes over the last year or so I might actually be curious if a) you were too young to go when first allowed in and thus have missed some of the boat or b) this has proven to be the time you stop going.

Anyway ignoring the things they allow under 16s into of a Friday night once a month I have been to precisely four nightclubs my entire life, few more if you count concerts I was there to see a live band for (but that might barely bring it to 20) and get out afterwards. All those occasions for actual nightclubs I was blind stinking sober and de facto bodyguard for my friends (bouncers are there to protect the venue and won't risk more than a gentle slap from a drunk*) which I am quite content with.

Since they banned smoking (yes I am old) then you get to smell the unwashed masses instead (granted that in some ways is preferable to having to contemplate burning your clothes as they are going to take several washes to get right), and even if my hearing was not shot for other reasons you still can't hear anything. To that end even without the vigilance required to play bodyguard I in no way found them enjoyable and am not sure why people would pick them over a pub (for which I have been in many), restaurant, house, park, festival or streets.

*choice video discussing how the UK works in this regard

One of my times was also in the Netherlands which is a far more peaceful place.

Though for bouncers in general

I was a regular at one point as I did enjoy the night out with friends, but it's been over 20 years since and wouldn't choose it over a quieter venue these days where you can actually have conversations.

Holy shit the tales I could tell you about my clubbing adventures....:D Most major cities in the UK, and usually went out clubbing every friday and saturday (often thurdays and sundays too) 'back in the day'

Being 46 however I'm well aware of the fact I look fukkin ridiculous in a nightclub now though, and certainly any dancing on my part has stopped, so yeah late bars are better. But if the ale takes me there.....;)

As a 90 year old Malaysian Man I often get drunk and go clubbing. I usually bring my breathing tank and life support system with me to the club. And I usually wear my shirt that says "This Hot Rodding Grandpa still got the movies."

Never been to one, not that I can remember anyway. I've gone to small venues to see local bands play, but I don't think that's quite the same thing. No dancing (unless you include grooving to Grateful Dead music) or drinking, though a lot of doobies being smoked outside. I just don't think I ever felt that I would be comfortable at one, or that I would appreciate the experience.

I went to bars and nightclubs a lot when I was younger with the intention to try to pick up girls. Never happened, not even when I stayed until closing. Wasn't much fun either.

I went back to one as an adult a few years back because the group I was hanging out with decided to go. I made a pretty profound, yet obvious observation: this is the place you go to hook up only if you are in the top 10% of physical attractiveness. With the constant loud noise, it is specifically designed towards those people, and people whose positive traits are in the intelligence and wit/charm have absolutely no chance there, no matter how hard they try or how often they go.

If you go there specifically for the dancing and the loud music, that's different of course. I did go to one with a date once and it was a completely different (and better) experience.

hahaha
yeah,
i still remember driving with friends to John B in Augsburg, Germany, and one of my friends said:
This smells like a physEd locker room ("Sportumkleide").
And i think that was the last or one of the last times i went to a club.

before that time is an entirely different story:
between 2005 and 2011 i was on alot of DNB parties in munich.
after that i got my own place, now it's my decision to party.

Used to go as an escort for my friends, make sure nobody spikes their drinks, etc. Thankfully they're all grown up now with kids so I can relax and steer clear of those toxic stinking meat markets for shallow arseholes.

That is counting chickens before they hatch. You still have the divorces/breakups and them returning to find another phase.

I'm not really a night club person either, I am far more into dive bars. People get shot at clubs and house parties around here and there's always someone looking for a fight.

Before COVID-19, I used to go to clubs a lot. I haven't since. The pandemic also just coincided with me getting old, too.

As a global mod now. im very tempted to close this thread after this truth.

before when someone said lets go clubbing. i would think of whats my comeback line in advance for rejection.

now when someone said lets go clubbing. i thought "where going to Canada?"
