I was just wondering how many people actualy buy limited editions of games. For me, it is when I actually love the game enough that the memrobilia will not be a waste in my opinion. The latest example would be me geting the Assassins Creed 2 Black Edition for an extra $30 which comes with figurine, 3 quests, soundtrack and artbook and I am probably going to get the Frorza Motorsport 3 one as well, later this week.

I did when Nanostray came out, then a while later they started shipping more units. That was the last time I bought a limited edition anything.

Nope, never did understand it. It's just a way for them to charge more for a couple of gimmicky extras.

Well if its something like this....
02_-_ghosts-limited-edition.jpg

Then yes.
I mean, this is like the best Collectors edition EVER.
Just look what it comes with it!

-2 CDs
-a DVD-ROM of multitrack files
-A Blu-ray Disc of the album featuring a 96khz/24bit digital mix of the album.
-A hardcover 48-page booklet with the artwork of the album in a black fabric slipcase
-A 4-part 180 gram vinyl edition of the album.

I mean, If there was a Collectors edition like that i would totally say Yes.

I have the same thing in mind, it will look nice next to the TV, with the mess of wires and consoles.

If you REALLY like a game, or basically anything, then why not?

I've got lots of limited/special edition DVDs, but surprisingly no limited/special edition games! I just did a quick scan of the collection to double check and nope, nothing!

it depends on what it contains, if it's crap then no, i won't bother and buy the normal version, if it's worth it and i know i will use the items then yes i will buy it, the same goes for DVD movies.

I remember buying FFVIII in a big shoebox-type thing. It came with a T-shirt, a memory card and some stickers. And the game, obviously.

Oh, and I got SF2 Turbo (SNES) in a metal tin. It came with a little badge/pin/brooch thing.

Nope, would just get the normal version. I have little need for gimmicky items that they overcharge for, which most limited edition games have.

Depends on the cost.

I got the Limited Edition version of The Conduit (although all its unlockables were available to everyone) for the same price as the regular game. It did get a cool art book and non-shitty cover art, though.

I usually do, when it's worth it.

However, I'm ultra pissed at Assasin's Creed 2, since the black edition is all sold out (everywhere I look) and that includes 3 missions, a book with conspiracy theories and plot things, a useless statue etc.
now there's the WHITE version... but it has one mission, no book, BUT the fucking useless statue!!! I don't care about any fucking statue!!
I want to experience the FULL game. I don't want to pay a full priced game, and not get the whole game. missing out 2 missions and the book with plot elements.. why?

No I want limited editions (or.. unlimited Special editions!!!!) with soundtrack, art book, behind the scenes and stuff. and if it is an unlimited edition, I also like the idea of story in a book or so, but NOT limiting it all to a selected few.

It depends on the usefulness of the contents. For instance, I bought the Demon's Souls Deluxe Edition which came with a strategy guide, which is handy for such a friggin' hard game. Not so much when the game is complete though. Still a very handy thing to have, compared to a plastic figurine that gets old within 5 minutes of display.

For artbooks and the-making-of DVDs/BDs, they end up as useless garbage sooner or later.
