thank you @Crystal the Glaceon to give me a thread idea

so tempers, do you borrow your toys, games, consoles, phones, tablets to your friends\cousins\siblings\etc?

    why so selfish :(
you are right, and got your reasons, sometimes when someone asks if they can play on my [phone, ds, gameboy, etc] the device usually comes different,

when i was a kid i borrowed my game boy, they gave it back with the A button making bad contact..

last year, borrowed my phone to a kid to use as flashlight (to find something) told him to be carefull, when i got to the room, the phone was placed with the screen faced on a rough surface, and to pick it up the kid rubbed the screen on the surface.. and some wild scratches had appeared...

i have a silicon case on my 3ds, when i borrow to my cousins, they are always removing the case (because they don't like to have it) it annoys me that i tell them several times to don't remove the case, then they get frustrated.. and well i don't want to ruin the fun since they play on the bed i give a discount..

one problem that i noticed with borrowing the portable consoles is when kids get bored, they just leave the console on the first place they see.. often someone calls them, they go downstairs or something, leave the console in a state and place hoping to play 5 minutes later.. and then i find out the console was leaved open and turned on hidden in the blankets waiting for someone to sit above it... (now i am exagerating, but sometimes it almost happens)

sometimes what happens when the kid leaves the console in plain sight another kid comes in 5 minutes later, sees the console and assumes he can also play it (without knowing the rules) and its this second kid who then does whatever he wants (like accidentally updating the console)

however, i have a very good experience of borrowing consoles and etc to 14+ year olds.. they tend to understand about the rules and are carefull as long as the device never leaves the house.. because if they ask to borrow for 1 day or something, that is another story..

I used to do this; but after an experience a few years ago, I stopped.

I let one of my friends borrow NSMB 2 and he told me he'll give it back to me in 2 weeks. I actually wanted it back 2 weeks ago, and he didn't give it back. He gave it a month later, saying he could not find it. I knew he was lying too, so that's an experience that will make me remember not to let people borrow my shit.

I don't trust anyone because the last time I trusted someone, they updated my Wii and caused me to loss my hacks. I don't need anyone touching anything unless I know it's safe.

I don't. Most of my games are on Steam and seeing as you can't disallow someone from running certain games (VAC-enabled ones etc.) I don't want to risk my account being banned thanks to someone else.

As for all my non-account bound games I don't mind lending them to friends.

I don't. I don't trust anyone, except for a few rare persons. The only one allowed to use my games/console without any problem is my girlfriend.
She actually knows how to use them, as well as to not update nor change anything.

Only a few people, and nothing big like a 3DS. I have let people use my gateway, my r4, mone of my gcn controllers, and they all came back fine.

Borrowing toys is a bad idea

Anyway, no. I don't. Even when I was younger and we had physical games, I never really did. If my friends and I wanted to play a game or a console, we went to that persons house. These days everything is digital and I only have one friend IRL whom I could let borrow stuff, and he has everything I do already.

I remember when I was really young (like grade 5), I swapped games with a kid and he made up a bunch of excuses to not give my game back. So being a calm, rational kid, I eventually just beat him up and said he could keep the damn game. His school life was pretty shit from there forward. Not exactly my fault but the incident made him very, very unpopular. I wonder if it was worth it for Super Mario 2 GBA.

I'd have been playing the cammy theme in my head that would motivate me a lot.
Also, no, people aren't even able to look at my PC screen, just in case they catch a glance of Cammy, lately. I don't want any of my family finding out other than my subtle hints.

I used to let my sister use my 3DS. It always came back with mysterious gunk stuck to it, which made me wanna stop letting her borrow it, but my parents would get mad if I wouldn't let her use it from time to time. She got a 2DS this Christmas so I don't have to let her use mine anymore.

It's not that I don't trust my friends, it's that I know most of them either don't know what they're doing (when it comes to homebrew/mods) or they don't know how to take care of it. Also, their other friends that I don't know I don't necessarily trust.

    I forgot
I generally never let anyone borrow my tech/video game stuff unless I completely trust them not to fuck it up, and that isn't necessarily a large list simply because a lot of my IRL friends aren't as "tech-friendly" as myself and don't treat tech things as they should.

Unless it's something particularly valuable, I have no problem with lending people gaming stuff if I know them well. Mostly depends on the object. I would gladly trust a friend for a game or a console, but I'd be more reluctant to lend a handheld as they are more prone to getting scratches and breaking.

Once a device gets old enough I let it get beat up, but no matter how beat up it is if it gets scratched on the screen, cracked, or broken in any way I will be mad. I usually supervise whoever is borrowing my stuff, but if it's like my Gameboy I'll let them wonder off with a warning not to break it. My new 3ds I don't like letting people use unless I'm showing off my hacks. But I carry around my old 3ds for people to playwith.

I let my closer friends keep my stuff for as long as I don't need it and they give it back immediately when I request it.
Also they are hack literate and careful enough so I also don't have many problems if they modify the hacks I have, if they do is usually for good.

In fact I have my X360 lent and my friend installed Aurora as an alternative to Freestyle.
Also when I got my Pokemon Y red 3DS XL I lent my midnight purple 3DS (and Pokemon X) to my cousin and once she got enough of it (like 8 months or so, latter she borrowed Luigi's mansion dark moon) she returned it intact, just a few extra demos installed but I didn't cared about 3DS hacking back then.

I don't tend to trust anybody, full stop.

There was a time when I lent out a gameboy game - never saw it again. They kept saying that they'd give it back but they never did.

i bought all 5 of my brothers each a 3ds and a wii u in hindsight it would have been cheaper to just buy myself two one for borrowing and one for playing myself, but this way everyone can play at once.
    nobody touches my stuff though.
