After playing a few movie based games like Godzilla 2014, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs for the Wii and the Bee Movie Game (don't ask about the ladder 2), i was wondering; Do game developers use low-poly-performance version of the movie's models for their movie-based games? Or do they just use completely custom models? Or do some use custom while others use the originals?
Looking at LegendaryGoji's model, it's gotta be from the movie due to how detailed it is, but am i wrong?

Well... some customize the originals from the movie and some build them from scratch, but the ones from the movies are usually rigged only for animation and not for gameplay, so the movie originated models must be customized for gameplay purposes
