Gaming Do I need to finish FF XII before playing Revenant

I know there was a topic or something like this but couldnt find it via google.

I played like 2 hours of RW already but i feel like i'm missing something, i donno if its imaginary or not so i'm makin this top1c.

It's not entirely needed; I myself haven't even played a FF game until this one. (Then again, I knew practically everything about all the games anyway... >_>)

If you feel like you should, then it really is just your choice. Ergo, all this is "no" in some respects. But really "It's better to finished FFXII first".

Well from what I played so far, there has only been little reference to FFXII. Other than the returning characters and their backgrounds, theres really nothing that your missing.

Then again its still a good game. You should pick it up anyways

I think the general concensus would be no, you don't need to first play FFXII (PS2) to enjoy Revenant Wings. I haven't played it yet, and I'm enjoying Revenant Wings just fine. I'm over 20 hours in, and have yet to get stumped on anything. I'm sure, though, there are things you would "get" in RW having played the first game that you just won't get without doing so.

Surprisingly enough, the story doesn't delve into the original story that often. So it's pretty spoiler free.

I was thinking the same thing. I think I'll try to get my hands on a PS2 again and play it :S (I wanted to play it for a long time anyway since it's held in such high esteem)

It was really disappointing for me >.>; (There's an emulator for PS2 that works well, you could use that again if you have a decent dual core rig).

Beaten it, there's very few references to XII in the entire game. So no, you don't have to finish XII to play it. I actually think it's better if you play RW first, since XII would be more of a character development than RW, which is more of a sidestory.

I'm only about 3 hrs into FFXII: RW and so far I don't see many references. In my opinion the game is a lot better than FFXII for the PS2. I was never really a fan of the battle system of FFXII.
