DLDI driver for Mk5

To be available shortly

neoflashlogo.jpg

Neoflash Team makes a smart move by opening its device to homebrew developers. Neoflash Team has indeed published source code for both FAT & USB PAD/USB Mouse. Both codes are reported to be working just fine.

It's only a matter of time before a compiled DLDI patch to be available for download.

The MK5 DLDI & MK5 USB PAD / MK5 USB Mouse source code release!

For the DLDI: I though you should know what's it?

For MK5 USB PAD: you can use your MK5 as one PC 12 key joypad, then you can use the NDS to control your PC game!

How to use:
  • Don't plug in the mk5 USB cart, and turn on your NDS
  • When you can see the MK5 logo in the nds menu, plug in the MK5 USB cart, then enter the MK5
  • Run the compiled MK5 USB PAD file, then your PC will detect one USB PAD,plug and play!
  • Now you can enjoy it.
For MK5 USB Mouse: just same operation with the MK5 PAD.

Uhmmm, the FATLib includes a DLDI driver already. Only thing being that the firmware it was built for is newer than the one MK5 ships with, and no firmware update has been posted (unless you switch to DSLinker firmware).

And upgrading to the latest DSLinker FW works fine

The only thing that changes is the touchscreen background, displaying DSLinker

I did the upgrade on my Express Card, in the DS GUI it still shows up as Express Card

So since the MK5 is identical hardware i assume it is the same for MK5

At least i now have the ability to run all Homebrew with DLDI support

ThX Neoteam for the DLDI driver, Works fine on other cards based on the same hardware (like Express Card)

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
