I'm going to be trying out WiiFree in addition to Chiip and Wiip and possibly Wiiskas -- whichever works best, I'll be recommending to all my friends and offering installs for. In the meantime, I've been wanting to build my own PIC programmer, and I found this while researching WiiFree:

I'm no electronics guru, so the schematic took me a few minutes to figure out, but it's pretty easy and should work fine. The other option is to just buy one -- the price isn't that far off actually.

Anyhow, for those looking to build their own PIC programmer, this one is recommended for WiiFree.

Thanks for sharing nloding, the most complex part of that seems to be the zener diodes (complex= I may have to actually buy one rather than scrounging one from an old device).

The section following causes a bit of trepidation but who cares really:
My personal Experience:
The burning, flashing, erasing and testing of used and new PICs takes 20 to 50 seconds. However I did not succed in flashing a used PIC, which was programmed by an other PIC-Programmer. I don´t know the reason.
