I wish. :( R5 literally made every reason to not worry about kernel EXCEPT that. I don't plan on pirating 3DS games, but if there's an opportunity to play my older games with it, I want to be able to have that. The scene is making great progress on that already, especially since we're stuck with interpreters.

Check out the NTR CPU plugin that just came out for examples! Smea is basically making a kernel free version of just that.

Most (if not all) New 3DS titles like The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth raise the clock speed. Old 3DS games like Pokémon keep the clock speed the same as O3DS. If the higher speed is forced, most games have better performance and loading times. Makes you wonder why Nintendo didn't do it, they'd probably sell lots more systems...

Before you or anyone asks, you can only do this on New 3DS of course.

Because battery life would be appaling and i assume they didn't invest much on worrying about game compatibility/potential of bug breaking issues popping up with old games so they took the easy route and just went with dumbing down the system to support old games instead of giving them a nudged boost.

Can anybody tell me this will be available for all firmwares?
And will emulators (SNES / GBA) benefit from this?

If i understand correctly you can start eshop games with this? does that mean piracy?

Ninjhax 2 was only available for 9.0+, so chances are this will too. Emulators probably will benefit on New 3DS, again, if the higher clock speed can be used. And no, starting eShop games doesn't mean piracy.

Please excuse my idiotic question, but does access to the extra horsepower in the N3DS make N64 or PS1 emulation a realistic dream for the future, or is that completely out of the question?

PS1 at least has been a realistic dream from the start, but it still needs polishment. N64 Still isn't a realistic dream even on PC

Really? I'm not at all dissatisfied with PJ64 1.7 on my PC. There are very very few games that have enough problems to ruin the experience for me.
