Dingoo A330 is a fake, A320E & A330 in works

I just got an e-mail from Jim Zheng over at Dingoo Digital.

Dingoo Digital, as you should know by now, are the original and genuine Dingoo brand-owners, product and manufacturing. This shouldn’t come as news to anyone, but Dingoo Digital are not dead, though we haven’t heard much from them lately.



Here are some excerpts from our e-mail conversation (cleaned up for Engrish, footnotes at the end).

Q: Are you planning a new console? If so, what improvements will it have over the A320?
A: Yes, an enhanced version – the Dingoo A320E is coming out soon. It will not use the Jz4755 CPU, but will rather use the China Chip CC1800, which is capable of playing of 1080p movies. The A330 is coming out soon aswell, with super functions, but I can’t talk about that.

Q: Can you confirm that the Dingoo Technology A330 is a counterfeit product? We all know that you (Dingoo Digital), are the original and genuine sellers.
A: Yes, the “Dingoo Technology A330? is a counterfeit product.

Q: Do you have any comments on the company split, and have you taken legal action against “Dingoo Technology”?
A: In fact, there are only 2 salesmen left on our team. They* asked the other team to hack our firmware, in order to produce a fake Dingoo**.
The Dingoo group still has more than 200 people, none of R&D*** members have left the Dingoo team.
The Dingoo group includes 4 companies, all of which are under one boss:
Dingoo Games – In charge of 3D games development
Chinachip – In charge of CPU development
Gemei – In charge of producting****
Dingoo Digital – In charge of marketing

Well, well, well! What does this mean for the average Dingoo consumer? I’m guessing the A320E will be somewhat similar to the Gemei HD8800 in regards to performance, since they use the same processor (The CC1800, which I can’t hardly find any information on online). Since the clockspeed, architecture and other hardware in this new iteration of the Dingoo is unknown and may be drastically different from the A320, porting a Dingux build to it might prove troublesome, without booboos and other hardware engineers’ expertise.

This may be detrimental to Dingoo Digitals future. If there’s not enough of an improvement from the A320, and the hardware is all exotic and unknown, no one is going to try to get a Linux kernel booted on it, and it won’t enjoy the same success as the Dingoo Digital A320 has done so far.

There is also some information on the Gemei HD880 here, but it unfortunately doesn’t have much information the technical aspects of the new processor.

Along with the e-mail, there were three pictures attached, two of which were proof of their trademark registration of the terms “Dingoo” and pinyin “Ding Guo”, and the third was the lovely office-shot featured earlier in the article.

Here’s to hoping it’s a MIPS(el) processor, like the one we’re used to!

To be honest, I didn't like the looks of the A330 that much anyway, it looked to be a mostly reshelled A320 with a minor upgrade, but not worth the price increase.

These look much nicer than the purported fake A330, I hope they'll come in black.

dingoo technologies is the new company.

dingoo digital is a few people who left (due to internal issues). they all work in the same building in the same tech center in china. one of the people who left owns the rights to the paw print logo, the original website, and the original software. which is why those 3 things are missing from the dingoo a330.

company A is formed
company A is located in a tech center
in the same tech center is a company who makes hardware
company A + hardware company make product 1
company A has internal issues, people leave and form company B
company A continues to own the rights to their original logo, website, etc. for more than a year they post rumors, slander, etc all over the net saying company B is fake and that company A is still around and kicking (yet they release nothing but rumors, slander, etc)
company B + hardware company make product 2 (with a few mods to the original product 1 design, so as not to get sued)
company A is angry and posts rumors, slander, etc
company B registers the names of 4 new products, hopefully to follow product 2
company A, now dead, continues to post rumors, slander, etc
company B ends up selling a crappy product

both places are in the same tech center (think of it as 1 high-rise building) in the same city in china. anyone in that tech center goes to the 1 group who make the hardware. the companies themselves just do product design, game coding, graphic design, etc. as you can see nothing is fake, nothing is a clone. they are both real systems manufactured by the same hardware company, but designed by two separate people in two separate rooms of the same single building.

all posts from dingoo digital are rumors and speculation and i'm sick of watching it burn like wild fire. they are hating on the fact that after they split they slept on their design while the new team went on to make a product. probably a product designed while they were all still 1 single group of people. dingoo digital has lost all credibility and if they release a product i will be honestly surprised if it is supported by the community. they have performed without honor and have shamed their fathers. they should all be stoned to death.
