Exactly the same has just happened to me! Went to load animal crossing and all of a sudden I’m getting the 11.0.1 system update nag. Stealth mode enabled! Maintenance screen cured it though :)

When you update your firmware, Nintendo includes information on all the latest updates for games, so thats how it knows your game is out of date. If a game was updated after the firmware 11 release, then it wouldn't know you need an update. If you are already banned anyways, click update game. I bet it won't be able to and stealth mode will block it. For system updates, if a newer game has the newer firmware built into the XCI, thats how it knows. I know you said that you trim your XCI, but from what I understand, trimmed XCI just trims off the "blank data" or something like that, so the updates probably aren't deleted. Also, maybe Stealth mode's DNS servers went down. I always thought if the DNS servers went down then the Internet just wouldn't work and the network wouldn't stay connected, but I could be wrong about that. Maybe it reverts to default DNS. I would consider putting 90DNS servers in your internet settings as a backup, because if 90DNS servers go down, then the Internet and network connectivity just stops working because they have both a primary DNS and secondary DNS.

Nintendo could probably work around any kind of stealth mode if they really wanted (and they probably do).
They probably shouldn't b/c then they are stepping on legal grounds stealth mode prevents their services, "Working Around" just means they are enforcing it on us. But we are just being paranoid with this topic he got the update nag even when he was offline - new content can require a new firmware its always been like that. Its not Nintendo knowing anything its just the game/update are tagged to work under specific conditions.

I agree, but Nintendo has done many things that I don't think are fully legal, like sending C&D to anything that remotely mentions modchips or even some fully legal homebrew hardware projects. They just don't care because they have the legal means to fight it...

They have the right to step in towards mods or hacks if its in any form of advertising. This is why they are purging hack tutorials on Youtube atmosphere/sxos mainly videos with alot of views to prevent switch owners from having an interest in possible piracy. They don't have the power or legal terms of snooping around our SD cards or control whats on our Switch, thats literally the same as malware behavior. Now if we use hacks with their Online Services then we deserve a ban b/c thats breaking TOS, but in this topic stealth mode prevents their services.

If your update your games now with latest updates, they require latest system software,so thats why you have to wait or go to atmosphere.
Until sxos get update and you can update to latest system software, better don't install latest game update.

That's the weird thing though, I was already on the most current firmware. And my 3DS was unhacked at that point.

I think some games have day one updates to where they can't be played without updating the game itself. I know there have been some ps4 games like this.

I think Nintendo could with a new update simply add another Server for something like that and we would not even notice :rofl2:

Did Nintendo figure out a workaround SX Stealth Mode?
The reason I am bringing this up is because I have a banned switch that I never use online for anything, never turn stealth mode off, In fact I keep the wifi disconnected and in airplane mode and have no kiddos around or even let anybody use my console for that matter, and yet all of a sudden alot of my games seem to require a system update to play.
Granted I am on a v1 unpatched, sx core, sysnad on 11.0.0 and cfw 3.1.0.
How does a game just all of a sudden know it needs to update the system software when it IS NOT online ever?
How is that even possible without Nintendo finding a workaround stealth mode?
is that xci all your games?
