Ok I've seen em all (yes I've been around that long).

I don't actually like zombie movies, but if you've got friends, eventually you're stuck watching them with them

No there are more than one type of zombie flick, but here's all that counts, the only good one has been Diary of the Dead.

Not too much not too little, no out of place comedy, and the effects were not too over the top.

The best part, it looked the most believable, sort of. They didn't spend any time explaining the unexplainable either.

There are of course better movies than zombie movies. But there has to be a #1.

It's Diary of the Dead.

When I looked at the topic title, I thought there was going to be some game that's a mixture of Typing of the Dead and Diary Girl.

Any summary on what the Diary of the Dead actually is? Never mind. Found it.

I totally disagree, I watched the first half of the movie and turned it off in disgust. I thought it had some of the worst acting I have ever seen in a movie.

I still like the Dawn of the Dead re-make for my #1 zombie movie.

lol have you only seen the Resident Evil trilogy?

Diary of the Dead is the worst Romero zombie film, even the recent remake of Day of the Dead was better and that was pissy. I fount the film to be pretty damn boring, completely unoriginal.

The best ones:
Return of the Living Dead
Night, Dawn, Day of the Dead
Shaun of the Dead (to me its the most realistic one, probably my favourite, even people who hate zombie films love this one)
Planet Terror
Fido (Most people who don't like zombie films will like this)
Dawn of the Dead Remake
Night of the Living Dead Remake (not the recent 3D one, that was horrid)
Cemetery Man
Bad Taste
Dead Alive
Night of the Comet
Re-Animator
The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue

Also Flight of the Living Dead/Plane Dead was pretty good even if it was Snakes on a Plane...but with zombies. I don't count the Evil Dead or the ...Weeks Later films as zombie films though they are pretty good.

I also watched it and while I made it to the end I was disgusted as well. The only thing worse was the "leave them" part of land of the dead.

What made it even more jarring was the fact I really liked the first 3 films (OK I was not overly taken with the third but heh).

Wild Zero is probably my favourite zombie film anyhow although there are several others.

edit: quite in fact the only zombie I disliked more was one I got by accident (it had the same name and a similar synopsis to one I wanted to see). Alas I have forgotten the name but it was set in "rural" Washington and chronicled the exploits of some woman from an anti-zombie department in the US gov and 3 Nazi zombies that could only be killed by WW2 weapons.

Oh yeah there was also Slither which is sort of like a zombie film.

I thought Land of the Dead was fine, it had some real good bits in it but it also had a lot of meh bits too for me.

Diary of the Dead is average at best, the acting is absolutely horrid, regardless of what they were going for.

Shaun of the Dead's the best one going around, although i do enjoy the original "night of" movies, and thought Land of the Dead was pretty good, as well as the Dawn of the Dead remake.

Diary is by far the worst Romero zombie flick, and one of the worst "docu-style blair witch" type movies going around.

I plan to watch the mov, if I get around to it today ill post my opinion.

Watch Return of the Living Dead Trash is hot in that movie.

If you watch the series stop at the 3rd. The first and second are great, the 3rd is ok but the rest seriously go down hill.

Wasn't too keen on Diary of the Dead meself. It would've been an average movie if it wasn't directed by Romero, but Romero making it canon in the Dead universe gave it no credibility. Unless you count Land of the Dead as the first Dead movie. The outbreak was supposed to have begun in the 60s and the dead had total domination by Day of the Dead which was set in the 80s, yet here's Romero showing us the beginning of the outbreak again - no credibility.

Romero is the king. But I'm not as keen on Diary as I am his earlier ones like Dawn of and Night of.

I love zombie shit. I collect zombie graphic novels

Zombie movies rule, I'm a massive horror nut and a Romero fan but Diary of the Dead was Romeros weakest film - even more so than Knightriders. If he'd have gone back and revisited the original outbreak it would've been great but he was trying to be "modern" and copy the Blair Witch style of movie and just didn't cut it. His talent lies in pace and tension not in editing!

Well the "Dead" series is being going to be bled dry again!

Romero is doing Diary of the Dead 2.
John A. Russo (co-creator of Night... & did the Return.. films) is doing an official sequel to Night... called Escape of the Living Dead.
Richard Rubinstein is doing a direct sequel to the original Dawn.

Hopefully all will be better than Diary & Day of the Dead 2.

Also, Pet Sematary is a great zombie film. Zombie cats ftw!
