Seems like a middle of the road folk/country singer to me, that or could have used a better engineer/producer (it was 1995 so perhaps not quite as nice/easy as today but not without options either). That said I tend to favour more powerful singers if I am doing this sort of thing. Decent enough songwriting at times though, got better towards the end of the album as well in defiance of http://www.viruscomix.com/abno12.html .

Apparently that was her first album so I might look at later stuff, might not though.

Yep my favourite songs on the album r the first three.
It's a pity that the album wasn't able to be as famous as her 4 Non Blondes' one.
It's always been hard to keep balance between comerciality and listenability.
