Devil's Fingers fungus, AKA "Facehugger bush, RUN KIDS RUN"

Once upon a time I used to make threads about wacky bizarre flora and fauna that can be found in the world on the internet; well, here I am with yet another zany bit of shrubbery: the Devil's Fingers mushroom! You thought Giger was high off his gourd and having interestingly Freudian hallucinations when he designed the facefuckershuggers for Alien? Turns out he was out hiking instead.

Devil's Fingers sprouts in the form of egg-shaped leathery sacs, and when the stars are right the climate is just right, the sac splits and forth spew nightmares of a tentacular nature.

Afraid I have met all of two people I would trust to know what mushrooms are good to eat, I am not one of those people either. If one of those, or another, rotates back into my life I might see about it.

I looked it up as I was posting the earlier stuff.
Most would consider it inedible in the bloomed form, and apparently it smells awful at that point as well. The sac form is edible it seems. In both cases the sites I read said it was not poisonous.
