I am looking for some sort of device that tricks the wii into pairing with a controller and it will believe that controller to be a Wii remote.
I am not aware of such a device, and it’s the sort of thing I would expect to have heard of if it existed.
What exactly do you want to do?
If you want a more traditional shape of controller to act like a sideways Wiimote, the Controller Pro U (as shown in my profile picture) would do that. I have played Metroid: Other M and Super Paper Mario with it and I can use the pointing function by raising the controller to point towards the sensor bar on top of my screen. It also detects tilt and shake e.g. for Wario Land: Shake Dimension. A switch on the back lets it act as a Classic Controller, but reviews say the analog sticks are bad. You might also want to raise the pivot point of the d-pad as it suffers from unintentional diagonal input. It won’t act as a Wiimote+Nunchuk.
Alternatively you could use the Dolphin emulator on your computer. Then you can map pretty much any controller - including the DS4 gyro simulating pointer controls using DS4Windows. I did this for a bit (I played most of Overlord: Dark Legend with an Xbox controller + Brook Xone adapter for gyro) but found it wasn’t as accurate as the actual IR pointer so got a Bluetooth dongle that would let me pair an actual Wiimote. This also has the advantage that the accelerometers in Wiimote and Nunchuk can be activated independently, rather than needing to map at least one to a button.
