Greetings all, this is my first post here, but I hope this helps out some of you folks trying to play this game. I've been lurking here for the past few days trying to devise a way to get successful saves, and this is just a thorough compilation of what I did to make it work for me.

For starters, I'm using a regular ol' R4 with YSMenu. I'm going to detail exactly what steps I took today to get successful saves. I highly recommend you take all of the aft-mentioned steps, as I tried many permutations (unsuccessfully) before this one. Note: I don't take credit for the fix, I'm just giving you layfolks (like me!) some steps to take so you can enjoy it too.

Start by backing up your roms and saves (though I recommend deleting any SMT:SJ .savs you have from previous tries) and download this tool to format your card, which can be found here: http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter_3/ (link is on left hand side)

Have a folder on your desktop with the original R4 root files. Freshly download them here: http://www.r4ds.me/download/r4ds.html#1

Download a2h's YSMenu autoloader here: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=130359 and put it in another folder on your desktop. Extract/open it, and use the link provided in the program to get YSMenu from Yasu's site. Download it into the same folder. Don't extract the newly downloaded YSMenuXXXXXXXXXX.zip.

Here's the smart bit from our folks over at GBAtemp who devised this brilliant fix. You are to download this set of files, found here: http://filetrip.net/f10189-TTDS-EXT-INFO-S...eta-v-1-88.html (download link/button on right side) Extract those into the same folder as the loader and the YSMenuXXXXXXXXXX.zip.

Load the infolib.dat you just downloaded into the autoloader, and click start. Take the contents of the generated folder (should be a subdirectory in the folder with the loader in it) and copy/cut+paste it into your other folder with the R4 root files. Then take the contents of the fix .RAR (containing extinfo.dat, infolib.dat and savlib.dat, which you previously extracted to the folder with the autoloader) and cut/copy+paste them to the new R4 files folder, then into the subfolder "TTMenu"

Download and extract the SMT: SJ ROM, and then download/apply this patch: http://filetrip.net/f10190-R4-SMT-(U)-patch-1-0.html (again, link/button on right side) once downloaded, change the extension of the file to .exe instead of .download. Run it, locate your ROM and patch it.

Copy/cut+paste the shiny new ROM into your games subdirectory in your newly created YSMenu folder. (the one that had all the R4 root files to start)

Copy/cut+paste the contents of your new YSMenu folder onto your freshly formatted SD card.

    You're done! Enjoy! [IMG]

A big thanks goes out to all in the NDS flash community who took the time to get around the silly AP. Internet love for all!

I'm a very thorough guy; especially after enjoying some time with the peace pipe. I don't expect everyone to read this to be as acquainted with the finer details of flashing as many of the folks around here.

It worked, the game is saving, but in the Energy Signature Investigation, the game freezes if I enter a battle or try to return to the ship.
